Non medical insurance is designed for anyone aged between 50 and 80. A non medical policy has no requirement for a medical assessment so you are almost always guaranteed to be accepted.

Non Medical Insurance

Non-medical insurance, or an over 50s policy as it is sometimes known, is designed for people aged between 50 and 80. Although you have to be over 50 to take out a non-medical policy, most over 50s will still qualify for a standard life insurance policy if you are fit and healthy and have no medical issues. Non-medical policies will still pay a lump sum to your loved ones when you pass away.

It’s important to get a life insurance as young as possible, but it’s just as important to consider the support your family needs, regardless of your age. If you’re over the age of 50, you may still financially support your family so it’s good to be proactive and think about getting covered.

If you financially provide for your household, it could have a big impact on your family if anything were to happen to you. Like most life insurance policies, a non medical policy can pay out a lump sum to help your loved ones with bills and expenses once you’re gone. If your family no longer depend on you or your income, it might be worth considering a life insurance policy as a way to leave some inheritance to your loved ones.

Non-medical policies are generally whole of life or until you reach the age of 90 and will pay a lump sum to your loved ones when you pass away. There is no requirement for a medical assessment and you are guaranteed to be accepted. Although all applicants are accepted, with most non-medical policies, there’s usually a deferment period before you’re able to make a claim. This can mean you cannot make a claim within the first 2 years.

How does it work?

Much like other types of life insurance policies, the monthly premium and amount you’re covered varies dependent on your individual needs and circumstances. It’s important to think about the following:

Each life insurance policy, level of cover and monthly amount depends on each and every individual circumstance. If you’re over 50 with no pre-existing medical conditions it could be beneficial for you to consider a standard life insurance policy.

Most life insurance policies start from as little as £9 per month, the higher the premium, the more protected you are. It’s important to think about what you want to be covered for and how much you can afford to pay.
